"If I die, it will be buried here."
Members of DeKalb Council (meeting Under Dispensation) of Cryptic Masons traveled this week to James C. Lovig Sr. Council No. 130 to assist in the conferring of the Royal and Select Master Degrees on a number of Companions — three from our very own Council. Assisting in the degrees were DeKalb Council members Jim Tome, Dean Clark, Scott Bellis, Mike Mitchell, Marco Vargas, Dan Jones and C. Mark Jacobs.
We greeted three new Companions — David Galica, Eric Jones and Eric Stice. Welcome Companions!
DeKalb Council U.D. meets in conjunction with DeKalb Chapter No. 52 of Royal Arch Masons on the fourth Thursday of each month (though we are about to go dark for November and December). At our upcoming October 28th meeting we are having a special Ish Sodi Night, where all the past honorees of the Grand Council’s Knight of Ish Sodi Award will be honored and we’ll learn about the degree from its author, Companion Hugh Cole, and Companion who currently plays the biggest role in conferring the degree, Companion Brad Baker.
DeKalb Council (No. 80) was recently reconstituted after 116 years, having been dissolved in 1894. It is now the third — and final — part of the three York Rite Bodies that meet in the DeKalb-Sycamore area.
