We were fortunate this last evening’s Lodge meeting to have current the Worshipful Master of Geneva Lodge No. 139, C. Mark Jacobs, come out for a visit and special presentation about his recent Masonic trip out to the Washington, D.C area.

Wor. Bro. Jacobs was invited to sit in the East by Wor. Bro. Tome and towards the end of a rather spirited business meeting, gave a wonderful presentation that included some photographs of Masonic landmarks such as the Washington Monument, various memorials, George Washington National Masonic Memorial, the headquarters of the Southern Jurisdiction of the Scottish Rite and the Eastern Star headquarters.

Wor. Bro. Jacobs told tales of how they were given personal tours of many places — just by being a Mason — and even how he and his companions were able to see the office of the then-Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert’s, office in the Capital Building.

Wor. Bro. Jacobs is a long-time friend of many of the members of DeKalb Lodge, also being an honorary member of DeKalb Chapter No. 52 R.A.M. and the current Generalissimo of Sycamore Commandery No. 15.

DeKalb Lodge is planning a Masonic trip to Washington, D.C. for the fall of 2010 and the presentation was intended to spur interest (which it did). Anyone interested in making the trip to Washington, D.C. should contact Wor. Bro. Jim Tome at dekalb.mason@gmail.com or 815-508-3878.
