Sycamore Commandery Elects Officers, Plans Big Year

04kt2150Sycamore Commandery No. 15 held its Annual Meeting last evening — with quorum! — where the year was recapped by our Eminent Commander, Sir Knight Jack Chasteen, new Officers were elected and our incoming Commander, Sir Knight Hugh Cole, outlined some wonderful events, strategies and vision.

Elected as Officers were:

  • Hugh Cole, Eminent Commander
  • C. Mark Jacobs, Generalisimo
  • James Tome, Captain General
  • Ronald Fraser, Prelate
  • Robert Fisher, Treasurer
  • Jack Chasteen, Recorder
  • Bill Draper, Sr. Warden
  • Pete Suffield, Jr. Warden
  • Micheal Crawford, Warder
  • Marco Vargas, Sword Bearer
  • Joe Nugara Sr., Standard Bearer
  • Mike Mitchell, Color Bearer
  • Bud Elkin, Sentinel

Installation is slated for July 16th, either at the DeKalb Masonic Temple or at a location to be determined — keep an eye on this blog for more details.

Sir Knight Cole spoke about his vision for the coming year including the need to raise funds (work as paid ushers at upcoming Kane County Cougars and N.I.U. football games, continue to partner with DeKalb Chapter on the York Rite Spaghetti Dinner in November), events (a dinner with Demolay Chapters) and some educational opportunities.

Other business included a decision to increase meetings to six per year (every other month, starting in September with two of those being offsite dinner meetings), change the meeting start time to 7:30 p.m., talk about membership and the number of incoming candidates (six or more in the coming year) and that our Inspection will occur at DeKalb Temple in March of 2010.

Sycamore Commandery is thriving and growing. Whether you’re a Master Mason or Royal Arch Mason, or a  Sir Knight who hasn’t been to meetings in recent years should take note and plan to participate in a brand, new Commandery!
